In addition to the exhibit floor the 16th Winter Deaflympics EXPO also features deaf entertainment acts, arts projects, and a keynote speaker. EXPO attendees can enjoy access to a wide-variety of events.

Title: Drop-in Art Project Summary: Ever want to create a work of art? Ever want to work with an internationally recognized artist? Well, the 16th Winter Deaflympics EXPO is the place to do both. You and your friends can work side by side with Chuck in making a new work just for display at the 16th Winter Deaflympics. Come spend 10 minutes. Come spend 2 days. Whatever time you have, you can have a hand in creating a brand new piece of art work. We supply the materials. You supply the ideas! Artist Bio: Chuck Baird, renowned international deaf artist will illustrate his talent at the Drop-in Art Project during the 16th Winter Deaflympics Expo. The project will include the option for expo attendees to participate in the creation of art for all ages, and will be a staple of the many artistic expressions portrayed over the course of the 16th Winter Deaflympics in Salt Lake City. Mr. Baird is known most recently for his work as the official co-curator of Deaf Way II International Arts Festival art exhibitions in Washington, DC in 2002. He has served as the resident artist at over thirty-five schools for the Deaf, has been involved with the National Theatre of the Deaf as an actor for ten years, has participated in dozens of group exhibits, and has been commissioned many times for a variety of art projects. Mr. Baird also created the 16th Winter Deaflympics painting called the Double Arch, a now famous project depicting a beautiful red arch and two gold Deaflympic medallion pieces. |

Title: Potpourri Summary: Get ready to laugh, cry, and shake your head in amazement! Internationally acclaimed performer Ramesh Meyyappan calls on his bag of tricks in this delightful series of vignettes. Meyyappan astounds audiences with his virtuosity and chameleon like ability to change characters in an instant. Be prepared! There's audience participation! Meyyappan has wowed audiences at Deaf Way II, QuestFest, and throughout Europe. Artist Bio: Ramesh Meyyappan will bring his unique brand of visual artistry to the 16th Winter Deaflympics Expo. Mr. Meyyappan, internationally known for his work in Singapore, Austria, UK, and Sweden, most recently was featured at the Deaf Way II International Arts Festival. He also performed artist residencies as part of QuestFest Scotland in 2002 and QuestFest Baltimore in 2006. A versatile practitioner, he will present visual theater at its finest in various forms at the expo. |

Title: If the Shoe Fits… Summary: Cinderella slips on the glass slipper, marries her prince, and lives happily ever after. At least that's how the familiar fairy tale is traditionally told from Cinderella's point of view. What if the stepsisters had a say in the story line? How different would things appear? Tami Santimyer calls upon her considerable imagination and acting skills to bring to life all of the familiar Cinderella characters with a new, eye opening twist. Artist Bio: Tami Santimyer will bring her international performing expertise to center stage during the 16th Winter Deaflympics Expo. Ms. Santimyer is well known for her lead roll in Gallaudet University's production of Zoot Suit . Also, she directed Bye Bye Birdie at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf, where her high-quality work gained notoriety on the national stage. With a background in English and Linguistics, her performing talent will be showcased through various visual productions during the expo. |

Artist Bio: Susan Dupor will illustrate her illustrious artistic pieces during the 16th Winter Deaflympics EXPO In-school Residency Program. Ms. Dupor's work has most recently been included in numerous group exhibitions including the national touring exhibition, "Elements of a Culture: Visions by Deaf Artist", Ceres Gallery and Blue Mountain Gallery in NYC, and the Millennium Arts Center in Washington D.C. Ms. Dupor also portrayed work at solo exhibits at the Washburn Art Gallery in Washington D.C. and the Dyers Art Center in Rochester, NY. Ms. Dupor holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned her Masters Degree in Deaf Education and Art Education from the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology. |
| Jerald M. Jordan Keynote Speaker ![]() |
Bio: Jerald M. Jordan is the featured keynote speaker at the 16th Winter Deaflympics Expo. Mr. Jordan is best known for his tireless efforts as the President of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), where he worked, among many other projects, to build and solidify a strong relationship with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He was elected to the ICSD executive committee in 1967, and then in 1971 became president where he served the international community for 24 years. The 16th Winter Deaflympics Organizing Committee, expo members, and spectators welcome Mr. Jordan and look forward to an incredible keynote address. |
