Position: Sorenson VRS Interpreting Center Operations Coordinator
Sorenson VRS is seeking experienced and highly motivated individuals to function as Operations Coordinators at the above Sorenson VRS Interpreting Centers. This person is responsible for managing the training and working schedules of video interpreters. The operations coordinator analyzes schedules and projects staffing needs in order to meet service level requirements from headquarters. Other responsibilities include handling shift requests and assigning schedules to both employees. The operations coordinator will also provide analysis for the VRS center director for recruiting purposes and process invoices, time cards, and payroll documentation to ensure accurate record keeping.

Sorenson Video Relay Service (VRS) is seeking professional interpreters to work at the Sorenson VRS Interpreting Centers located around Canada. Position: Staff Interpreter
Provide American Sign Language interpreting services for employees located at Sorenson Communications Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Also to work in the SLC VRS Center as a VI when necessary. this is a FT 40 hour position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for Sorenson Communications' corporate meetings, events, interviews and other situations as needed.
- Interpreter will also complete projects as assigned, provide VRI services when requested and interpret in a VRS setting when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Preferred 5-10 years working experience as a certified sign language interpreter in a variety of settings
- NAD level IV/V, or RID :CI, CT, CI/CT, CSC, NIC or
- Hold a state interpreter certificate at the Intermediate or Master Certificate skill levels
- Excellent voicing skills and a good understanding of deaf culture
- Experience with video interpreting required
- Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, extreme adherence to ethical and confidentiality standards

Position: Sorenson VRS Center VI-P Coordinator
Locations:
The VRS Center VI-P Coordinator will be responsible for working with the National VRS Professional Development team to manage and provide dedicated support to the VRS Interpreting Center. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the VI-P program through working with operations to compile reports, keep statistics and measure the overall success and failure rate of the program. The candidate will work closely with the National Professional Development Manager and VRS Center Director to coordinate mentoring services and workshops within their home center as well as monitoring the program and making recommendations for support to VI-P interpreters, mentors, operations, and interpreting center management.
In addition, the candidate will be available to provide skill-building trainings and workshops and work closely with the Professional Development Department on developing Professional Development Plans for working Video and VI-P Interpreters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, Train, and administrate the VI-P program within the VRS Center.
- Provide training and support within the VIP program for the region as needed
- Provide ongoing support to the Sorenson VRS Interpreting Center.
- Provide regular skills and/or knowledge training and follow up with the language mentor and center VI-P trainers.
- Maintain all records and reports for the VI-P program
- Coordinate and provide training for mentors
- Light and occasional travel
- Be able to develop and deliver original internal workshops when needed
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years proven experience as an Interpreter Educator in a college and/or conference setting.
- Interpreter skills assessment and/or certification evaluator experience strongly preferred
- Ability to learn and work in Excel, MS Word, Power Point and with other computer-based systems
- Solid understanding of mentoring, teaching and training interpreters
- Possess solid working knowledge of various resources and interpreter training materials
- Comprehensive Certificate from a national interpreter certifying entity (RID CSC, CI/CT, CDI and NAD Level V) and/or comprehensive state preferred certification granted through a certifying entity such as a Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred

Position: Sorenson VRS Trainers
Sorenson Video Relay Service (VRS) is seeking professional installers to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing customers with installing the Sorenson VP-200 videophone. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting networking issues and training customers on how to place a video relay call.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills and a good understanding of the deaf culture
- Ability to report service related issues and interface with the Sorenson VRS Support Department
- Must be familiar with all technical aspects of installing Sorenson VRS products including networking, router configurations, and firewall issues
- Sales skills in using Sorenson VRS products such as using a video relay call, features, and tools use in videophone

Writer-Editor
Sorenson Communications, a provider of industry-leading communication offerings with an emphasis on products and services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, is seeking a part-time writer/editor for its quarterly newsletter. Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in journalism, technical writing, or professional editing. Candidates must be proficient in grammar and have experience in various styles of writing. Candidates must submit a portfolio of relevant work samples and be prepared to complete a short writing and editing test if interviewed. This senior-level editor will report directly to the Public Relations Director.
Responsibilities:
- Research and write a variety of newsletter articles which feature corporate messaging, new products, features, and services and profiles of employees and end-users of Sorenson's products.
- Recommend newsletter graphics and photography.
- Work collaboratively with staff in the Marketing and other departments to create and refine newsletter content, layout design, and distribution.
- Write, edit, and proofread Marketing copy, including website content, news releases, scripts, and video captioning.
- Review and respond to e-mails requesting more information on Sorenson Communications.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 10+ years experience in journalism and/or technical writing.

- Actively support the mission of Sorenson Communications.
- Participate in departmental and Institute committee work; teaching curriculum development; academic support services, student recruitment, coordinating field placements, creating innovative practices in the American Sign Language interpreting field; and participate in professional organizations.
- Must have excellent communication and teaching skills; a commitment to quality education and student-centeredness; and the ability to work with a diverse student population and be part of a collaborative team.
- Must demonstrate leadership skills, academic advisement, assisting Department Chair in recruiting qualified adjunct instructors, and planning and evaluation of programs in support of the department's goals and activities.

Position: Software Test Engineer
Software Test Engineers are responsible for testing Sorenson Communications software tools. They work as members of a development team to develop quality products. They define how products are tested, carry out that testing, record and track defects, and prepare the products for release.
Responsibilities:
- Test all aspects of Sorenson Communications software products.
- Work as part of a product development team.
- Plan testing efforts and create test timelines and schedules.
- Define test cases and prepare test plans.
- Design and implement test automation scripts/programs.
- Mentor test technicians on the team and assign them duties as needed.
- Monitor, measure, and improve software development and test processes.
- Diagnose product problems and assist Technical Support as needed.

Qualifications:
- 1+ years experience with professional software testing and QA practices.

Position: Software Test Technician
Sorenson Communications is seeking software test technicians to test Sorenson Communications Video Relay and IP Relay services and related products. Software test technicians test Sorenson Communications software services and tools, as well as Sorenson Videophone hardware and firmware. They work as members of a team to develop quality relay service products. They work under the direction of a Lead Test Engineer. As assigned they, write test cases, execute test cases, find defects, document defects, verify fixed defects, and report their progress daily.

Qualifications:

Position: NOC Specialist Engineer
Part of a team that provides monitoring of Sorenson production systems for 24x7 hour operations. Provide front line operations support to Sorenson production systems. Provide customer service and technical assistance to VRS interpreters and customers. Use technical and communication expertise to help VRS users with Sorenson VP-100/VP-200/VRI systems. Troubleshoot and maintain VRS and IP Relay systems and services, including servers, client applications and networks. Help VRS interpreters with technical issues on the client applications. Use excellent customer service skills in resolving issues reported to NOC support and document them appropriately in reports and logs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide monitoring of Sorenson production systems and networks
- Provide front line NOC support response for Sorenson production and service systems
- Provide technical assistance to VRS/IP-Relay interpreters
- Provide technical assistance to VRS customers
- Provide basic support to SOG, NOG and DOG teams

Qualifications:
